Updated: Jan 4, 2020

On the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest which is being held in Tel Aviv, Israel, the Second yesterday's Semi-Final qualified the next 10 countries for the Saturday's Grand Final, among them Albania and North Macedonia.

2004 was a year when Albania participated for the first time in the Eurovision Song Contest. The song "The Image Of You" performed by Anjeza Shahini at the time had placed the country 7th in the Grand Final with 106 points.

This remained the country's best result in the contest until 2012 when Rona Nishliu who is known not only as a famous pop singer, but also a devoted experimental jazz musician, placed 5th with a remarkable performance of the song "Suus" in Baku.

This year, Albania is being represented by Jonida Maliqi at the Eurovision Song Contest. Her talent and explosive voice make her different from other singers and more captivating for the whole public. After it was qualified on the Second Semi-Final, she will be the second to perform with the song "Return to your land"( "Ktheju tokës tënde") on the Saturday's Grand Final.

North Macedonia was also qualified on the Second yesterday's Semi-Final. In the Eurovision Song Contest, it participated for the first time in 1998.

The best result was achieved in 2006 with the song "Ninanajna" performed by Elena Risteska placed 12th in the Grand Final with 56 points.

This year, the country is being participated under the new name North Macedonia, while the previous years, respectively until 2019 it participated under the name F.Y.R. Macedonia.

North Macedonia is being represented by Tamara Todevska with the song "Proud", an excellent song and performance.

She will be the eighth to perform on the running order of the Saturday's Grand Final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.

Every country should be proud of its culture, identity and its achieved results, but the ones who should really enjoy and be proud are women who made these results happen.

And undoubtedly, both like Jonida Maliqi as well as Tamara Todevska makes us be proud of.

We wish them great success on Saturday's Grand Final!
